Our 10-Step Process

How we deliver a smooth, durable, factory-quality finish on every project.

At Crown One Wood Finishing, results come from the process. Every cabinet project follows the same refined, detail-driven workflow designed to deliver consistent, long-lasting finishes without shortcuts.

Step 1 | Remove doors & drawers

We carefully remove all cabinet doors, drawer fronts, and hardware, labeling each piece to ensure precise reinstallation and proper alignment later.

Step 2 | Protect & mask the kitchen

Floors, countertops, appliances, and surrounding areas are fully covered and protected. We set up proper masking and overspray control so your home stays clean throughout the process.

Step 3 | Degrease & clean surfaces

All cabinet surfaces are thoroughly cleaned with professional-grade degreasers to remove built-up oils, residue, and contaminants that can compromise adhesion.

Step 4 | Sand & prep surfaces

We sand doors, drawers, and cabinet frames to create the proper surface profile for strong adhesion. Dust is fully removed to ensure a clean, controlled finish.

Step 5 | Fill old handle holes (if needed)

Old hardware holes and surface imperfections are filled, leveled, and sanded smooth to create clean lines and a refined final appearance.

Step 6 | Apply bonding primer

A high-adhesion bonding primer designed specifically for cabinet refinishing is applied to ensure long-term durability and consistent color coverage.

Step 7 | Apply topcoat finish

We spray multiple thin, even coats of professional-grade cabinet finish, lightly sanding between layers to achieve a smooth, durable, factory-quality result.

Step 8 | Install new handles & hardware

If new handles or knobs are part of the project, we precisely drill and install hardware for clean alignment and a finished, cohesive look.

Step 9 | Reinstall doors & drawers

Doors and drawer fronts are carefully reinstalled, hinges are adjusted, and alignment is fine-tuned to ensure everything opens, closes, and sits properly.

Step 10 | Final cleanup & customer walkthrough

We remove all masking, clean the workspace, and walk you through the finished project to ensure every detail meets our standards and your expectations.
